Alchemist is the alter ego of Kevin Sonney. Kevin is a podcaster, linux admin, and tattooed freak. Don’t tell him he looks like a cartoon…he’ll cut ya!

DJ Wolfman

Contributing DJ

Current residencies: Nightbreed Radio

As a child in the UK, DJ Wolfman grew up with all the old Universal Monster Movies and loved nothing more than sitting down and watching the classic monsters, such as The Wolfman and Creature From The Black Lagoon wreck havock. This hasn’t changed much, outside of his being older and hairier.

Members: Martin Bowes – Vocals, Analogue and Digital electronics , Julia Waller – Vocals
Bio: ATTRITION is a pioneer in darker electronica. Formed in 1980 in Coventry, England, influenced by a mix of punk ideology and experimental art aesthetics, they emerged as part of the early ’80’s UK Industrial scene alongside contemporaries Coil, Test Department, Legendary Pink Dots, In The Nursery, Portion Control et al. Founder Martin Bowes has steered the band through a 25 year career, fuelled by a succession of critically acclaimed albums, selling over 70,000 to date. – Metropolis Records
Release Date: 11/09/10
Label: Metropolis Records
Review: One of the best things about reviewing music is that occasionally, you get to review albums by one of your favorite artists. Attrition is now celebrating their 30th anniversary with a compilation album featuring 16 songs hand-picked by Martin. Attrition has always been a hard band to describe, yet alone pigeon-hole. They can be called Gothic, Industrial, Darkwave, Coldwave, Experimental, Dark Electronica, and so on, depending on the song. Personally, I have always found this to be a good thing, as it means that after listening to the first track, I have not listened to the entire album. This album is no exception. This is not your run-of-the-mill ‘Best of’ compilation. Featured are many rare and re-mastered versions of Attrition classics and, for the visually inclined, previously unpublished photographs with a cover designed by Russian artist and film maker Edward 209. As for the music, their sound varies, one minute darkwave, the next industrial, then on to dark electronica. Martin’s quiet vocals range from contemplative as heard in Two Gods to growling demand as heard in Lip Sync. In short, this album would be a great addition to the die-hard Attrition fan’s collection, as well as a good introduction for the unfamiliar. It is available in CD and Download, but I would recommend getting the CD for the beautiful artwork and photos.
